I’m Stephen. Software engineer, occasional writer & gamer.

I’m currently living in New York City. I was born and raised in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. I help startups, agencies, and friends of the web connect with users. I’m an engineer by trade, but historically I’ve worn many hats. Some titles I’ve held: developer, designer, production assistant, manager, gamer, hiker, nerd — among many others.

Currently, I’m a Staff Software Engineer at the NBA building streaming applications on Connected Devices. Previously, I was at Vimeo. I enjoy working with honest folks, and solving challenging problems. I graduated from The University of North Texas in 2014. I studied Interdisciplinary Art & Design, and created my first website in 2010. I’ve been building web apps, interfaces and publishing on the web ever since.

I’m a WordPress evangelist by heart. But, I prefer writing JavaScript. Most of my professional work happens in React Typescript today. On occasion I’ll dive into good ol’ PHP. Read more about my work here.

When I’m not working, I typically write and blog here. Sometimes, I take photos. Sometimes, those photos end up in publications like Fast Company. I catalog most of my short-form content right here on this blog. But, recently I’ve been enjoying posting on Threads (@stephen.news).
